Question:

How do I catch two 'wild' kittens?

Three kittens live in my Grandmother's backyard and they aren't doing too well on their own. I managed to capture one with the old box-with-bait-a-stick-and-string trick. Now that that kitten is tamed, she loves me and won't stop following me around the house. I would like to get the rest of her siblings but I am too stumped. The box trick thing isn't working since the kittens have grown too smart for it. Any idea on how to get the other kittens safely?

  1. Can you not call a cat rescue centre, and let them know what has happened. They are highly skilled when it comes to catching animals. Explain on the phone that you are worried about them and would like to take care of them, don't give name and address before they confirm that you can have them.

It's so nice to hear from a good person.

OK, just read that you live in a small town. What I would do in that case is get the below source or something similar. It is a humane trap for cats and I guess it is kinda what pet rescue places would use. Hope this helps. I am in the UK but thye will have them in America too, if that is where you live.

    Good luck. x

  2. stuff their food with sleeping pills! Once they start purr-ing---bingo...

however you probably shouldn't use human pills...maybe get a tranquilizer gun...are you a good shot?

  3. You could place food in a humane trap. Be sure to check on traps frequently.

  4. Offer them turkey. They'll come reasonably close. Once they trust you, and you've fed them turkey. Lure them close enough that you can pick them up. Make them your friends!

  5. Contact a shelter, they can help. They have these traps, humane ones obviously, where kitty goes in the box to get the food and the door slams behind them. Or you could rig something like that up yourself if you're clever!

    Chalice

  6. you need to strock it and feed it or block it in a coner and then pick it

    up

  7. leave some food out for them and when they want to they can get. they probably well eat it when you aren't around if they finish it give them more until they trust you enough then try to pet and play them if they back away then just give them more food and try again later

  8. I would secure the tame kitten in a separate room then set up a trail of food leading in to the house set up a food and water dish when and sit behind the door do not move do not make a sound once both kittens are in the house close the door I don't know if this will work but it might be worth a try.

  9. If they're the crazy type of cat, try a toy to distract them.  Once they're distracted slowly walk up to them and grab 'em.  My cat LOVES to play with pencils (probably wont work with these cats though).

  10. when my sister had some wild cats around her house we put up a little trap with cat food. They are safe and effective just put some cat food in it and wait. no matter what DO NOT corner it it might attack.

The things called a live-trap and you can get it at Farm-and-Fleet.

    hope you catch them.
