How do I change a VOB to an AVI so I can edit it in windows movie maker?

I backed up a DVD to my computer but all the video files are VOB's (which wmm won't open) what do I do?

DONT CONVERT YR VOB TO AVI

IT WILL BE IN A POOR QUALITY

VOB files open in a dvd player. You need re-encode it as an AVI, this will take a while. You need a software programme to do this, of which there are many. Some are free.
