  1. Tools required:

    1) 2-3 tire levers

    2) spare tube, right size for wheel

    3) patch kit

    4) bike pump

    Gather tools before continuing:

    1) Remove wheel from bicycle using quick release

    2) Check outside of tire to see if something obvious is causing tire to go flat

    3) Deflate tire

    4) Use tire irons to begin loosening one side of tire, then loosen rest with hands. Loosen only 1 side of tire, don't remove entirely.

    5) Remove tube from tire and figure out what caused tire to go flat. Check tire for anything that could be pinching or poking with hands. Remove whatever caused tire to go flat.

    6) Slightly inflate spare tube (makes it easier to work with)

    7) Place spare tubes valve in wheel and place tube inside tire, working from the top down

    8) Use hands/tire levers to put tire back on wheel

    9) Use bike pump to reinflate tire

    10) Put wheel back on bike

    11) Inflate tube that has a hole in it. Figure out where the hole is

    12) Use the patch kit to repair the tube.

    13) Keep repaired tube as an emergency backup tube at home.

Here's a couple videos showing how to do it:

  2. Check inside the rim to be sure it's clean, no spokes poking through or glass bits or rocks. You may need to get something to go between the rim and the tube.

  3. You need the tools ofcourse.

Then take the tire first then the tube.

Put the tire back, then the new tube.

    And pump it up.

  4. Well there's three components to a wheel. The rim, the tire or tread and the tube which is under the tire and contains the air. It's your tube that is corrupt.

So first, you need to take the wheel off of the frame, newer bikes have a little handle that you unscrew to take the wheel off, others, you might have to use a tool. [If your having trouble taking the wheel off, then start with the second step.]

Then you have to deflate the wheel.

Next you are going to have to take the tread off. The tread is tucked into the rim from both sides of the wheel. Start off by trying to untuck one side. You may have to use something to help you with that, something that's skinny and long. You might have to use some force. Once one side is untucked you can get the other easy.

Once the tire is off, you have the part that contains the air. It's optional with what you do with this, you can replace it or patch it.

Once you've done that undo all of these and you should be set!
