My two week old son has developed this bad habit, he will wake up around 1am and will fight sleep until 3am to about 5am, lately it is going to the 5am point. At first he would go back to sleep easily but now he fights it and just cries for hours. I try everything and it's just hit or miss to if it will actually work. What can I do?

  1. At two weeks there won't be a whole you can do. It's common for babies that age to be up every 1-3 hours at night because they have their days and nights confused.

Are you feeding him during this period? Swaddling? When my baby was waking up during the night I sometimes would have to rock him while walking around. It was tiring, especially at 3 in the morning, but it worked like a charm. Find something that will help your baby go back to sleep easily(patting his belly, rocking, walking around, or maybe minimal contact).

  2. There isnt a lot you can do at this age.  See if your husband can help more.  Maybe you could switch nights to be up with the baby so you sleep every other night.  Just remember....it will get better.

  3. talk to the baby's doctor about your concerns and if she/he has any advice (I am sure they will.) By the way take all the advice only has options, don't take any advice to far. Wish you the best of luck!

  4. Not a lot you can do at 2-1/2 weeks.  You can try a bedtime routine.  I used a really good one, and my son was sleeping through the night at 2-1/2 weeks.  I gave him a warm bath every night...used lots of lavender...lotion and soap...Aveeno makes some great baby ones.  I would get him all dried and warmed up.  I would give him a good nurse before bed, then he would go down at 9-9:30 and sleep all night.  Same routine every night...worked liek a charm.

  5. take the baby to the doctor ASAP, an let the doctor know what is going on!!!
