How do I change a xcf file into a jpg?

I edited a photo on gimp using linux and i wanted to upload it onto a website... how would I do this?

After the xcf file is opened, go to menu, file, save as, put the name of the file with extension jpg e.g. myPicture.jpg , click save, go thru the level of compression, then the jpg file will be in the saved folder.
