I had the Pages program when I first got my mac, and it was only a trial so now that I deleted I have to go through a ton of stuff to get my text files to open with text edit. I went to the "open with" menu and clicked text edit, and checked the box "always open with" but it didn't work and its soo frustrating! I need to learn to change default settings so that anytime I try to open a text file, it open with text edit automatically. Any help? :(

I so appreciate any good answers

Thanks :)

  1. You will have to change it in "Get Info" dialog

Right click on the text file, select 'Get Info', and then in the 'Open with' section, selects the program you want it to be open with. then, click 'Change All' to let this change reflects to files with the same extension (same type)
