How do I change group settings to approve new members.?

Question

I'm trying to change my group settings to have new members contact me before joining due to getting loads of spam.

All help answers I've read say to click an 'edit' link next to Posting & Archive but it's not there.

Any help appreciated.

management- under group settings click membership- Membership Type and Welcome Message (Edit) <-- click the edit- select restrictive- click save changes-

then go to homepage, click edit membership top middle- scroll to bottom and check the pending member box- click save changes (this will send a notice to your e-mail there's a pending member)
