How do I change my Odeometer to read mph and not kmph on my new yamaha xt660z

I have just bought an Xt660z and the speedo reads in kms. this is a uk bike and the manual gives instructions to hold select button down for two seconds. I have tried this and it doesn't work

Take (drive) it to the dealer they (should) fix it for you free.

I think you meant odometer
