Every time I visit any web page, it has ads about my town, like it's a location tracker and it makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. How do I change the settings of my computer to say I'm from somewhere else? Even another state, although I'm only looking to change the town, I'd like to know both.

I have Windows XP... if that helps.

  1. you need to buy a router, it scrambles your Internet protocl address [IPS]

  2. It's actually not your computer that broadcasts this. It's your ISP (internet service provider). There is a certain amount of information that is transferred like your general area (don't worry they can't figure out where you are ) and your country ect. If you really want to hide yourself you could use a proxy that would mask the IP address this might work but i'm not sure.
