How do I change the setting in Groups to show that I am online?

The little smiley face is not 'on' when I am online. I can't figure out how to change the setting. I've looked everywhere in my account and preferences. Not in Messenger, but in Groups. Where do I change it? Thanks.

it's on your prfile edit page- but also it needs to be checked within the messenger privacy options
