How do I charge for shipping with my ebusiness?

I just started an estore using Prostores, which I love, but I am totally lost on charging for shipping. I'm used to ebay where it was done for me. Any suggestions on how to put together a chart using USPS. Should I charge by the price or by the weight. My products weigh between 2-8 ounces so the weight is not a lot. Which if more effective? Any tips / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. The USPS charges by weight & size. It might be best to take your package to the post office and have them tell you how to figure it.  If everything you're shipping is roughly the same size & weight, it will be easy  to estimate the cost.

  2. The store owners on Etsy.com all have diff. shipping procedures but it's because of where on the globe they live. Take a look at a few and you'll start to see what rules benefit you.
