How do I check a persons qualifications in the UK and USA?

Question

I am currently interviewing a large number of people from the UK and USA for several positions in my company.

Many claim to have exceptional qualifications and I would like to know how to check these.

Qualifications such as High school passes like: GCSE O´levels (and USA equivalents) and further education such as: A´levels (and USA equivalents), BA´s and so on.

Is there one place where all this data is stored or do I have to contact each individual educational facility listed on the applicant´s CV´s?

why not ask to make a photo copy of there degree and call the university they graduated from and no one site will have all the information.
