  1. Sean is correct.

using a site like www.whatsmyip.com will just give you the IP address that the outside world sees you as.  Most businesses and home routers use private IP addressing and then it is translated using NAT to an outside IP address that is shared for everyone on the network.

  2. This website tells you what your ip address is:

    http://www.lawrencegoetz.com/programs/ip...

If you aren't connected to the internet, press the windows button in the lower left corner of your screen, type cmd and open that program, and type ipconfig.  This will give you a bunch of information, one of which is IPv4 address.  The number after that is your ip address.

(this is for vista, the process of opening the cmd program might be slighty different for xp, but just search for cmd and you'll find it).

  3. Open Command Prompt (Type cmd in Run)

Type in ipconfig and click enter

  4. Yeah go to START - RUN

Type in CMD (short for command)

    Press enter.

Type IPCONFIG and there is your IP Address.

    CAPS not needed during typing.

  5. www.whatsmyip.com

  6. http://whatismyip.com/
