Question:

How do I check the thermostat in a Thermador oven?

I have a 3 year old oven and the oven element seemed broken so I replaced it. The oven still will not kick on. When you turn it on, a cooling fan also kicks on, it is not going on either. I reviewed the manual and as always, they do not cover thermostats, just refer you to call a repairperson(bologna). I have also called the manufacture and they are no help either. Please do not answer if you can not help. Thanks so much for any assistance(true help, not c**p ansers).

  1. Wall oven? Range? Model? type? Mechanical thermostat or Electronic controls? Self cleaning?  What country are you in? Did you check voltage?

Since you said element I assume you mean it is electric and not gas.

Since the fan and unit both quit you have lost voltage. Most common is you popped a thermal fuse (in the back or top) during the self clean. But it could be a half dozen or more other things.

There should be a tech sheet tucked away in there someplace with a schematic. Get out your meter, follow the schematic,  and track down the open component.

There is a reason techs get paid for what they do and this kind of problem on a oven is not really a consumer repair type of item.  Unless you can at least read a schematic and know how to use a meter.

  2. Call us DIYers should not be messing with high end stuff.  We find DIYERs cause more problems that just leaving it alone.  And if anything is left under warranty you will void it by messing with it.

Now that I have that out of the way the things you can check

240V 1PH power.  The control panel will still come on but wont work if you are missing L1 or L2
