How do I choose a new primary care physician?

I have new health insurance with Kaiser so now I have the "arduous" task of selecting a new doctor.

What guidelines should I follow when selecting a new physician? And how should I contact my old service provider on transferring my medical records to Kaiser?

  1. First of all, talk to the people at work who have primary practice docs and ask who they like or dislike- and why.  If any of them give a doc who is located close to you, I'd try that one out.

First I'd expect the office ti run close to one time.

Second, the doctor should talk to you in a way that you understand without making you feel stupid.  The doc should really listen to what you say when you have an issue, and discuss with you what kinds of remedies might be available for you.

If the staff is rude, or disinterested, if the doc is short with you and seems to want to run out of the room to his/her next appointment- never go back.

Make sure that the doc has admitting privileges at the local hospital you might use.

as to transferring records, the office staff will have a form for you to fill out that allows your previous doc to transfer info to your current one.

  2. Call your insurance carrier and ask for a list of Dr's in your area. Schedule a consultation. If you like a new Dr. his office  will arrange for you to obtain your medical records by you signing a release form to them.

  3. By google to collect some related information or you may try using answer engines like yahoo answer or yedda.com to get some related ideas.nonetheless,If you prefer some direct resource, here is a good one from my own experience.http://health-insurance.onlinebestoffer....
