  1. Find your computer online and look at the specifications. It should say how much memory it can handle and what sort of memory it uses. Knowing this you can then search for memory online to get an idea of what you are buying (and probably a cheap deal).

I recently bought 2GB online for only 45 euros.

  2. hi meshan

as you have probally noticed the best method in finding the correct memory for your p.c is by going to the excellent memory website "http://www.crucial.com/"

once on the site you need to run the brilliant online memory utility, this will scan your p.c and evaluate your motherboard and report back to you on the best memory for your specific pc

note: will need to allow a active x internet explorer add-on ,however dont worry this is safe and totally free of any spyware/malware

once the crucial memory report is done all your questions are answered, such as

1.do i need dual channel memory

2.can i mix my memory speeds

3.do i need to install my memory in matched pairs

all this and more will be answered on the crucial website and if you still need further assistance you can either contact the crucial memory team on their e-mail or contact me anytime

                   good luck meshan !

  3. http://www.crucial.com

Click on 'Memory Upgrades' and run the scanner.  It will tell you what RAM will satisfy your computer's thirst for memory.

  4. You could use this site to help you:

    http://www.corsair.com/configurator/

  5. You could call Dell - they'll be very helpful - or go to the Dell website (you'll need your Service Tag number, five digit number on a white barcoded sticker on the back of your pc).

But...  Dell memory will be more expensive than third party brands.  Google 'memory selector', and you'll see there are selectors from Corsair, Kingston, and other manufacturers.

Go to their website, enter the make and model of your computer, and how much memory you currently have and they'll tell you the options.

Remember, it's a bank holiday weekend, so most of the online computer shops have big sales on!  :-)

  6. More RAM means more applications are able to run at once and a decent hard drive, 250gb is plenty for storage.
