How do I clean a persian carpet that got 5 gallons of water dumped on it?

My brother spilled 5 pounds of water on the persian carpet. How do we clean it?

vaccum the water out, then get a couple of towels, with a fan, and put the towels on the carpet, and lets the towels soak the water in, then use the fan, or a hair dryer to get rid of the exes

Try a wet vac and suck as much water as you can from top and bottom. Then, put a box fan on it until it is completely dry. Again, remember to do it on top and bottom.

You have already been told to use a shop vac or carpet cleaner to suck up the water.  I would also pick up the carpet and air dry it out of direct sunlight to insure it is completely dry.  This also gives you a chance to take care of the floor under the carpet.

you can either rent a steam cleaner or use the shop vac for just picking up the water spell , don't forget the floor if it's wet it might be marked with a water stain if it's wood of coarse!

blot up as much of the water as possible.  If it got mildew, try this, it's worked great for us in the past
