  1. put it under sun

  2. vaccum the water out, then get a couple of towels, with a fan, and put the towels on the carpet, and lets the towels soak the water in, then use the fan, or a hair dryer to get rid of the exes

  3. Try a wet vac and suck as much water as you can from top and bottom. Then, put a box fan on it until it is completely dry. Again, remember to do it on top and bottom.

  4. You have already been told to use a shop vac or carpet cleaner to suck up the water.  I would also pick up the carpet and air dry it out of direct sunlight to insure it is completely dry.  This also gives you a chance to take care of the floor under the carpet.

  5. you can either rent a steam cleaner or use the shop vac for just picking up the water spell , don't forget the floor if it's wet it might be marked with a water stain if it's wood of coarse!

  6. blot up as much of the water as possible.  If it got mildew, try this, it's worked great for us in the past
