I need to refelt a pool table, but the previous felt was spray glued on and after removing it I was left with a build up of the spray adhesive and old felt around the edges. How you remove this gunk without damaging the slate?

  1. Try a single edge razor blade available at any hardware store, Home Depots, etc. in their paint departments.

Soak an Inconspicuous spot with rubbing alcohol to help break down the glue, then scrape with your NEW blades.

Don`t use an old blade! There are nicks in these.

Test your scraping angle on the slate that does`nt have glue so you will know if and when the blade angle is too high and will dig in to the slate.

I am sure these areas that are glued are NOT where the balls travel i.e. under the cushion etc. so I would`nt worry about it too much.

Just get it smooth as you can.

If the alcohol does`nt help soften the dried glue, try "GOOF OFF" or similar products designed to remove glue.

Don`t use too much `tho or you`ll just have a gooey mess.

If it`s REAL slate, it is non-porous with an almost mirror-like surface and the glue should scrape off easily.

    Good Luck with it!

    I hope you`re re-covering with Simonis 760, 860, or similar....?

Btw, it`s "Cloth" Not "felt" (:>
