How do I clean filmy drinking glass?

It's most likely filmy due to hard water or mineral build up on the glass.  Try scrubbing it with white vinegar or some hard water deposit remover like "Lime Away".  Make sure you rinse it thoroughly with hot water afterwards.

do you use a dishwasher? something easy, cheap, and totally natural is to cut a lemon in half, and place half in the dishwasher. gets rid of spots. awesome, right?

Soak them in a mixture of water and white vinegar.  White vinegar will take the film off glass, that is provided it isn't scratches from a strong detergent used in the dishwasher...like powders.  Switch to gels if that's the case.

~~Are you using a dishwasher or hand washing. If it's a dishwasher, add about an 1/8 of a cup to your load (I just pour it on the door prior to closing), then wash as usual. If you are hand washing, then soak in hot water and about a cup of vinegar in the sink for a half an hour, then rinse and dry. Sounds like you have really hard water like I do. I just add vinegar to all my dishwasher loads and it eliminates the problem.~~
