  1. Have you tried Bi Carbonated Soda....It cleans most things..

  2. rice and warm water or salt rock and warm water, either of these give a good rinse around then rinse with clean water after.

  3. lead shot ..place an amount of lead shot in the decanter with some washing up liquid and then shake it.. gently...you will find that any wine residue is removed quite quickly. then empty and flush with clean water !

  4. First of all, you should be aware that storing any alcohol in a crystal decanter is now known to be unhealthy due to potential lead leaching from the glass. Use it for the evening of guests only.

One of the very best cleaning solutions (and natural) is a combination of baking soda and vinegar. Simply pour a couple of teaspoons of the soda into the decanter, then about half a cup of vinegar (it will bubble up). Swish around several times over an hour, discard and rinse thoroughly. (Also works to remove protein from stainless pots and pans.)

I have about 20 cyrstal decanters -- they're all very clean and very empty!

  5. Vinegar and water!

  6. Use chempro,It is what home brewers use to sterilise bottles with.

  7. put bicarbonate of soda, and water and leave for a few hours, and give it a good shake then rinse under warm water.

  8. I find that rice and vinegar works, put some vinegar in the decanter, add the rice and give it a good shake, the rice is abbrasive and will remove any dirt.

  9. Try False Teeth cleaner, Steradent or similar.

It certainly cleans stains from teacups etc.
