  1. empty the water out by making a cup with your hand and pushing the water forcefully out far enuff to miss your flowers.... when most of it is out, take an old rag, put some sand on it and scour the gunk off..... fill with water to rinse, scoop that water out and then fill with fresh water....

  2. Use soap and a stiff heavy brush. Or I use those toilet bowl disposable sponges by Clorox. Rinse with water. No fuss. No Muss....It does not hurt any of the neighboring plants by rinsing with a lot of water. Happy Scrubbing.

  3. I just rinse out the old water with new. But if you don't feel that is clean enough you can use a brush with some dish detergent (the cheap plain kind no bleach or antiseptic).

The soap won't hurt your plants, It may even keep the bugs away. Make sure if you use any cleaners that you rinse very well. Don't want to hurt the birds.

  4. Just a good stiff brush, water and scrub.  You can use a touch of soap as all the water will dilute it enough not to hurt the plants.

  5. The water won't hurt your flowers. If you wash the bird bath with bleach, not THAT will kill flowers. So wash with a little soap or detergent. Most won't hurt flowers.
