  1. Before you get too anxious about paying off these debts, let me point out a couple of things.

Negative items automatically drop off your credit report after 7 years, beginning from the date of the first delinquency.  If it has "been years" since you have paid anything, then you may just want to wait a little bit longer and watch them drop off automatically.

Also note that every state has a "statute of limitations" on debts, and after that period (averages about 6 years) they can not sue you for the debt.  So legally you don't have to pay them once this SOL period has expired.

Examine your debts first and then determine the path you wish to take.

If you are just feeling guilty about paying them, here is what I tell people.

When you failed to pay your debt, your creditors gave you a choice.  Pay up or they will destroy your credit for the next 7 years.  Well, obviously they have ruined it, and placed these items on your credit report.  You have suffered for several  years with bad credit.

So why on earth would you want to pay this debt a second time?

  2. You go to www.freecreditreport.com and request to see one of your credit reports (in USA).  You are allowed one free from each of the three agencies each year.  You can also get one for free if you are turned down for credit - the company turning you down must name the source of info that forms the basis of the turn down.

In reading the report, expand every section to see the detail and then print the screen or do Ctrl-A to select all and Ctrl-C to copy selected and switch to Notepad or a word processor and paste it.

You will find all the stuff that has been reported about you and the companies issuing the reports and you can track from there.

  3. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

go here and see who reported you its free once a year once you begin paying your credit will immediately improve to get good credit you will need to pay this off and get some more credit and pay that off and the Sky's the limit no one has perfect credit but you can get it up quite quickly
