I have a big old house....it's 6 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, etc. it's just me and my husband and we aren't terribly messy but it seems like ALL I ever do is clean and yet it won't ever stay clean.

How on earth do I keep everything clean without spending my entire life doing it???????

UGGGH!

  2. Are you talking about dust and dirt, or do you have trouble keeping it tidy?

If it's dusty, there's probably not much you can do. Maybe you need an easier way to dust, such as the swiffer duster. You can zoom through any room with that.

If it's tidiness, maybe you have extra stuff (clutter) that you could get rid of. And the main cause of a messy-looking house is that it's hard to put things away, or certain things don't really have their own place. Also, make sure to have a wastebasket in every room.

That's a really big house. Can you afford to have someone come in and do the kitchen and bathrooms, at least? That would make your life easier.

  3. Do a room a day. Take your time and clean 1 room really well one day. The next day move on to the next. Moday through sat. you can clean a room . On your least busy days add a bathroom. On Sunday rest. Get into a routine and make sure to keep it clean on the days it isn't being cleaned. Like not leaving things lying around. Washing out dishes as soon as your done etc. Turn on some of your favorite music, get a gold ice glass of water and nake it a fun thing. Remeber Rome wasn't built in a day!

  4. I would set a schedule.  Break everything up and figure out how often it needs to be done.  Then at the start of each day, you know exactly what needs to be done.  When you are finished, that is it!

I don't have a huge house, but I have three children that keep me busy.  If I do not keep a schedule on what needs to be done, I end up spending all my extra time cleaning!!

Another idea is to get someone to come in once a week or every other week to clean for you. It costs a little money, but it may be worth the time you will save!

  5. you have a 6 bed room for 2 people..money shouldnt be an issue...get a maid

  6. Well, I would start by NOT letting my husband in the house:-)

That would be the only thing to keep it clean.

  7. i've cleaned a houses bigger than that for my friends.

they are a pain to clean, since as soon as you get done cleaning and dusting, everything is all dirty again, even though there's no one particularily making things dirty.

my advice: if your not planning on making your family bigger (have kids, have parents move in etc) maybe sell the house, and buy a house with more like 3 or so bedrooms

  8. simple HIRE A MAID!

  9. Same problem only i live in a two bedroom apartment with my son and boyfriend.  I recently decided that I will no longer be the only one that cleans.  I work 40 hours a week and by the time I come home I tend to be wore out. and able to do less, causing some back up in the housework department. My boyfriend is the same only he never does housework.  So i wrote out a cleaning schedule.  cutting the chores in half, and leaving more time to do fun stuff. I should have put my foot down years ago.
