Question:

How do I clean my old metal trunk?

I have an old trunk that belonged to my grandmother. It is metal on the outside and it has what I would call surface rust from being in our storage shed. I would like to put in in my living room but it leaves marks on the carpet. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to clean it and maybe seal the surface so it doesn't leave marks?

  2. I would suggest that you rub the rusted area with an sos pad then rinse it with a wet cloth. Dry it with a clean cloth.

you could tape over the metal hinges with masking tape and spray paint it your favourite colour with "TREMCLAD" paint for metal.  Place  a piece of carpeting under it and perhaps a nice table runner on top of it . It will look nice and be a special keepsake from your grandmother.

  3. TRY NAVAL JELLY AND SUPERFINE STEEL WOOL FOR THE RUST...AS FOR THE BOTTOM A CARPET REMANT SHOULD DO THE TRICK
