How do I clean my wood floor?

We just got brand new wood floors in our house. They are engineered wood floors. They are made by elegance exotic. http://www.elegancewoodflooring.com/. I understand that these floors have aluminium oxide wear surfaces. I dont know what this mean and what care we should follow. For instance, can I use the SHARK steam mop on this floor. I also wondered if I can use Murphy oil soap. or what other product is good for this "aluminium surface" finish. Thanks for any help.

  1. Engineered floors are not real wood so you can clean them with a mild soap and a damp mop.

  2.   They ARE real wood.. Just different layers laminated together..Do NOT use water or murphys or liquid gold..LG will leave em looking good but very slippery No steam mop either..Alum ox finish is a newer top coat that makes them very hard finish  as a wear layer.. Still can scratch but it s still a tough wear layer..There are cleaners for the wood and all it is a mist type cleaner and all you need is the swivel "dust mop" w/ the washable and removable terri cloth head..GL

  3. ohh! my mom uses this really good wood cleaner called um... Scotts Liquid Gold and it leaves ur floors shiny for months and it smells good.

  4. To revive your finished hardwood shine, mix equal parts of distilled white vinegar & vegetable oil & put in a spray bottle. Work small sections @ a time. Spray the mixture & rub it in with a clean cotton cloth-with another clean cotton cloth, buff that section until it's as shiny as can be. Repeat on each section.
