Question:

How do I clean oak kitchen cabinets which have been in our house for 15 years? Problem is we had no handles.

There is still a nice finish, but where hands have opened cabinets, yuck. It cannot be removed with household cleaners, and sanding would ruin the finish.

  2. Try an orange-based cleaner (you can get it at a grocery store or home improvement store). The citric acid and oils cut through the built up grease and muck, and it doesn't harm finished wood. Use a terry cloth to kind of scrub them clean (soft enough that it won't harm the finish).

  3. Liquid Gold does a nice job on Oak cabinets.
