How do I clean out a hip flask?

About a year ago, I got a hip flask but lost it, I have only found it today, the problem is that it had some whisky in when I lost it and I don't know how to clean it out. I have filled it with boiling water as it is the only thing I can think of.

I just fill it with a teaspoon of Milton and hot water, then leave it for a day and rinse it out.
