Question:

How do I clean painted porch rockers when they mildew?

The are painted white wood. They are on an open, covered porch. We live in Florida and when we get alot of rain, they mildew and they get dirty. Household cleaners don't seem to work very well, even mildew remover for the bathroom doesn't seem to work well. Is there a product made especially for this, or is there a really good home remedy? Would it help if I put a finish like car wax or something to help prevent this?

  1. i just did this last week. It might cost you some money. what I did was get a power washer from my neighbor and then washed away all the stain (or paint in your case) off the rockers and all the meldew was gone. Then i went and got a can of stain and reapplied it. it only took me like 10 minutes to complete all of this. but make sure if you do powerwash it, not to get the hose to close the the rocker cuase it might rip up the wood. Good luck!

  2. Your best solution would be to clean porch with bleach water solution  let dry, and repaint, your porch,  with paint that has Milldewcide additive.  With other  products the problem will keep coming back.  The mildewcide additive will add about $4.00 to a gallon of paint.

    Good Luck
