Because it's humid outside my old mahogany furniture is sticky and needs a good cleaning. What's safe way to do that?

  1. Look for the Formby line.  Any better hardware store carries it.

It's for all types of furniture, and doesn't cause any damage.  Many different products for many different uses.

  2. TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate) is a great cleaner for wood furniture or cabinetry.  Get out the rubber gloves and goggles and mix up a small batch and try on an obscure location.  The sticky surface will be removed, and you can reach into the details with a Q-tip and / or soft toothbrush.

Then wipe the surface down with a citrus oil such as Orange-Glo or lemon oil (not lemon Pledge).  Make certain that you do not get the oil on any fabric.
