Question:

How do I clean vinyl records at home?

I found an old piece of paper in my attic which I wrote back in 1991 when I was cleaning a Morrissey single called 'Sing Your Life'.. It says to wash them under the tap, then add a 'dime sized' amount of washing up liquid, get some toilet paper and scrub it in a gentle circular motion, then wash off with distilled water.

Is this good for my records? Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. Try vinyl cleaner, I use it all the time and it works great.  Try a light duty sand paper to smooth out those pesky grooves too.

  2. with Mr. Clean, of course

  3. Windex and a soft cloth.

  4. Sadly, we cannot get vinyl records here---but I wash my CD s  with mild detergent and~warm~ water.as you suggest-with good results.

    cheers.
