How do I do that? Also another question. I plugged in some speakers into my MacBook and I had to turn them all the way up (max) and it was still very low (the sound). Usually those speakers are wicked loud and if you even turned it 1/4, you'd kill ur ears. Whats going on? Is there a setting to change or something? The volume was all the way up on itunes. Thanks

  1. I don't think there's a way to close it and keep iTunes running. I have the same problem with mine, and it kind of sucks. Just keep it open a little bit, and be careful not to knock it shut.

I don't know about the speakers. You say the volume's all the way up on iTunes, so I don't see why it shouldn't work. I haven't used my Mac in a while, but nose around on Preferances for a bit to see if there's any Volume Control anywhere. PCs have it. It might have lowered itself at some point.

  2. A utility called InsomniaX allows you to close your Mac laptop without it going to sleep:

As for your audio issues, I reckon you've missed one of the three volumes you need to keep an eye on when playing through external speakers:

    1. iTunes own volume - Open iTunes, look at the slider next to the back, play/pause, next buttons.

    2. Your Mac's volume - Push the Volume Up key (a speaker with three sound waves) on your laptop keyboard.

    3. The external speakers - You've checked that already, I'm sure, but maybe double-check?

  3. for the first question . just close your macbook, but without letting in completely close . haha you know what i mean? just close it until its like 2cm's before it completely closes .

and maybe your speakers arent turned up all the way . but other then that i dont know .

  4. Try what M B said for the volume of your speakers.  If it is not that, test your connection and test your speakers with something else to see if your speakers are the problem or if it's a connection or Computer problem.  The likelyhood is you missed the system volume controls and M B said.  As for keeping the computer running when you close the lid.  Yes, there are programs that allow you to do that, but I don't recommend this.  The computer goes to sleep on purpose.  The cooling vents cool through the top of the keyboard and closing them in can cause your computer to overheat and either cause damage or do an emergency shut off.  leave the lid a bit open is a better idea than closing it the whole way.
