How do I color-coordinate my closet?

I love color-coordinating, but I never know which order of colors looks best. For example, should I go Black-Brown-Purple-Red-Orange-Yellow-Gre... I usually do it like that but it never looks right. Any suggestions?

I worked at a Clothing department for many years.. here's the Color Wall that is used in every store....

white. tans. light pink. hot pink/fuschia. bright red. burgundy.dark orange. bright orange. yellow. mustards. light brown. dark brown. camaflouge green. green. teals. turquiose. soft blues. navy blues. prple. violets. greys. black.

besides color coordinating also seperate by sleeves.
