Question:

How do I comfort my friend?

She had a terrible car accident and lost many of her teeth. Ive tried telling her to be glad that she has her life but, vanity will not allow her to hear that. She now has to get a full set of dentures for the top part of her mouth. I helped her research implants but, they are sooo expensive and she cannot afford them now. Do dentures make you talk differently? Eat differently? Smile differently? Anyone have information on affordable implants? Thanks.

  1. I had 20 teeth pulled today, because my medication has made them fall out.. I have friends who have had implants, and they are painful and expensive.  I am a nurse so I have researched this.  Because I am on a disabiliy, I have low income.  I have to pay $170 for august and september, and will have my dentures in 2 months.  I have waited 14 years with the embarrasment of covering my mouth.  Please help your friend to call medicaid in your state.  tell her to go online to "dentures for poor people" Don't call her vain.  you will never know the loss of self esteem this causes unless you're us.  God Bless, Vickie

  2. DENTAL IMPLANTS ARE NEVER INEXPENSIVE. SHE CAN HAVE MINI IMPLANTS TO RETAIN HER DENTURES,

THERE IS A LEARNING CURVE WITH THESE AND SHE WILL QUICKLY LEARN TO EAT, CHEW AND SMILE WITH THESE.

    SEE LINK BELOW

  3. Well not really but just give her time and it all be going well for her.

  4. I am sorry to hear about your friend. Loosing your teeth can be a horrible loss, they are the window to you, your happiness is shown through your mouth, your confidence. It will be hard for her. Though having dentures is not the best option, (implants are best, but are spendy) dentures have come soooo far!! I work at a dental office and I can not tell when people walk in with dentures until they hand them to me! A lot of people you see that have these beautiful teeth...well they are dentures! They do not make you do anything differenly, granted they will take some getting used to, but it will happen and she should be glad that she does have her life. Teeth can be fixed or replaced. YOur life can't. I know it is a terrible loss. But rest assured, the first time she smiles again with her new teeth, she will be very very pleased.

  5. Awwww....I fell for your friend!  Poor thing!

Good news is, that dentures really aren't that bad!  It will take some getting used to, but after a few weeks...she'll be fine!  You won't even notice that she has a denture!  :)

She shouldn't talk, eat or smile differently.  The denture will be custom made to fit her mouth.

Implants are expensive.  If she can't afford them, don't worry!  A well trained dentist can have a custom denture made in a few weeks.  :)

She'll look and feel beautiful again!  :)
