I haven't been well, I had blood tests today and left the surgery, I returned to fill in a prescription request and overheard the GP and Nurse talk about me and my family, the made personal comment, were laughing and called me dysfunctional. When she saw I was still there she nearly died and walked off, the receptionist didn't know where to look, I was angry I said "do me a favour, tell them I am not deaf!" and stormed out, I am devestated at what they said. Who do I complain to?

  1. You can complain in writing to your practice manager. I worked in a medical centre, this sort of thing goes on all the time.

    Hi,

I'm sorry about what happened. I had a similar thing happen to me about six months ago. Take a look at the above link. It outlines what you need to do

    Good Luck!!

  3. Standard professional misconduct and a breach of patient confidentiality.

Have a look at this site:

Hope you get them sacked, good luck.

  4. I can undesrstand why you stormed out as you were angery at the time and so you should have been.

All to often we hear of confidentiality being ignored and I have heard this sort of thing at my doctors surgery in the past. It does not happen now as we the patients complained to the pratice manager. And I suggest that you do the same too.

I would take my complaint straight to the doctor aned nurse concerned you have a witness in the receptionist so it will not be their word against yours. Then I would write a letter to the NHS Trust that the pratice comes under.

Do not let it rest there as all too often some nruses and doctors think that they are a cut above their paitents. Neither had any right to comment on either you or your family.

They will get their comeuppance eventually and I would certainly let as many people know as you can what happened to you.

All the best and hope you get a satisfactory outcome.
