How do I configure my norton symantec firewall or internet explorer? When I disabl firewall browser works fin?

I recently swaped out my cable modem with identicle model. It works just fine with the firewall disabled but with in on it does not let the browser display the page it says it is not connected even though it shows that it is when you go to the network connections panel. Other programs that have to connect to the internet such as Magic the gathering online work just fine with the firewall in place, so I'm not so sure it is norton and not internet explorer. Please help.

check the program access restriction in your firewall there should be a list where your internet browser is displayed as "blocked"
