Question:

How do I confirm what kind of warrant,if any, police tried to serve @ my property in Washington State?!?!?!?

They crossed a locked gate, bullied my tenants, and when they told police that my husband didn't live there, they called Child Protective Services and had them pull my tenants' kids! Now, my husband did have a warrant for child support (now paid), and my house has been approved by the State as 'kid friendly' (then&now). But these jerks wouldn't show paper and I can't get any proof that they had right not to honor my gate. They snooped all over property making untrue statements to my tenants (who, by the way, got their kids back in 72 hours).

So, where do I get info? Or should I be talking to an attorney about this?

  1. the d.a's office should have records of ALL warrants. so should the police department if they served it, and this is all public domain under the access to information act. phone and ask.

  2. Try looking at the Courts website, http://www.courts.wa.gov

There's a name search feature on there that lets you put anyone's name in and see what cases have ever been filed by or against them.  If it's a warrant, not a subpoena or something, there should be some kind of record on there.

  3. The police had a warrant for your husband's arrest and searched his (last known?) address, or at least a recent address for his whereabouts.

You weren't directly harmed by the actions of the police against your tenant's children, so advise them to retain a lawyer.  If the police unlawfully seized their children, your tenants are in for a nice settlement.

  4. document document document!

an attorney in your case would not be a bad idea. but before you go that route, try to talk to the county records or whoever the agency was. they should be able to tell  you.
