Question:

How do I connect a BT phone line?

We have just moved into a new flat, which has a BT phone line installed (apparently). The note beside the phone says, "Call this number for service: 0800 800 150". Unfortunately, neither this nor any other number works, although we have a dialling tone. I called that number from my mobile instead and I'm given two choices: press 1 if I'm calling from the phone I want to talk about, or enter the phone number of the phone I'm calling about. Now, I have no idea what my phone number is, so does anybody know which number I can call now?

Anybody help?

Thanks

  1. to find your own number dial 17070 and ittl read your number back, if it doesnt (number witheld) dial 147017070.

  2. I had the same problem when we moved. I just put in random numbers when it asked and I seemed to get through. Give that ago.(This was 4 years ago so they might have changed the system by now)

  3. if you have a dialling tone on that line try just dialling 150 which should get through then go for the 1 option.

otherwise still use the 1 option and it gets you to an operator quicker otherwise you get put through to faults service first`!
