How do I connect a camcorder JLIP socket to a windows XP computer?

I have an "old" JVC GR DV1 digital video camera. It has a "JLIP" socket for computer connectivity. Is this just out of date? Is there a way to connect this to a 2008 computer system so as to upload data, etc.?

Have not found a straight answer online, somehow.

jlip is a kind of glorified pause control from the analog days of VHS editing. look for the iLink connector on your camera, it is for digital transfer and is not obsolete. it may be hidden under the flip out LCD or under a rubber protective cover.
