  1. No. however you can connect two channel. A TV usually doesn't have a decoder for surround sound. 5.1 or more has different discrete signals. You need an external Decoder or a receiver/Amp to utilized multi-channel setup. Some DVD player has output compatible with PC speakers, FYI.

  2. You don't.  The 5.1 speakers require a surround sound system, which the TV does not provide directly.  In order to get surround sound for your TV, you'll need a home theater receiver and a digital audio source.  Your DVD player should have a digital audio output (either coax or fiber or both).  Also, if you have an HDTV or digital cable or satellite, that source may also have a digital audio output.  When you connect the digital audio to the surround sound receiver, the receiver will decode the digital audio and generate the 6 channels of audio output (1 center, 4 surround, and one subwoofer).

  3. While still getting surround sound... no not really. If you have an optical or digital coax input on your computer you can run your sound through your computer. but thats kinda dumb. just pony up the bucks and buy a real surround sound system for you tv.
