Question:

How do I connect my PC to my Samsung HDTV?

I have a Samsung LE26A457 HDTV and would like to use it as a PC monitor.

At the back it has a D-Sub port which I recognise as VGA, and when I plug my ordinary (working) VGA cable into it, it recognises that the PC is there, yet on the screen says "MODE NOT SUPPORTED".

The television instruction manual suggests that it would take a DVI to HDMI cable, but I've got an old PC with no DVI output.

Would an SVGA cable solve my troubles? And, if not, does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

  1. You have to go into the "control panel" on the computer and get to the "Display" "settings".  Then you have to find the optimum size setting.  Use the DVI/HDMI, it's best.  My instruction manual suggests resolutions to choose.  Check yours for the same.
