How do I connect my Toshiba P105 laptop to my Sony Bravia HDTV?

I bought a VGA/Svga cable, connected the two, but the tv keeps saying "No PC Signal" I hit the function key and F5 and cycle through the options, but nothing happens.

  1. u need an hdmi cable for that, i connet my hp laptop to my hd tv using an hdmi cable
