How do I connect my audio receiver to my tv?

I have a mitsubishi tv and kenwood audio receiver. I bought rca cables for it today but it doesn't seem to work

Need to look for the audio output from your TV and connect it to any audio input to your receiver.

Set your input selector on your receiver to the input your TV is connected to and you should have sound.

You should only have to connect the yellow red & white wires  to the input of the kenwood receiver and the other end to the back of the TV. You will also need to connect the coex from the satalite or cable to the receiver.

Two possible problems.  

Make sure that the RCA jacks you are tapping say Output, and on the amp, they say Input.

There is usually a TV setup menu to turn on your external speaker outputs.  Maybe that is the problem.
