How do I connect my computer to the internet?

I have a 4 port modem/router downstairs in my house, which 1 cord runs upstairs to my desktop computer, 1 downstairs to a laptop and 1 to my xbox downstairs. The other 1 is unused. How can I connect my laptop to the internet upstairs without running another cable?

Can I use another router upstairs to split the signal to the two computers? I don't want to use wireless and I am also looking for the most cost efficient way to do this. Is there some other way I can do this? Thank you for all your help and advice in advance.

share the internet connection from one of the comps. You can't do what you are asking but this may help you.
