How do I connect my laptop to the internet threw the router?

My family's laptop and Nintendo WI works online threw the router. When I click on Wireless Connection on my own laptop and choose a wireless network the name of the router pulls up, but I cant go online. I know that the ISP address is not pulling up and I went threw Command Prompt and found my ISP address, but I couldn't connect to the internet.
