How do I connect my laptop to the internet? (u.k)?

I am hoping that someone on here can help me. I am not very technical so please bear that in mind when answering.

The laptop that I currently have connects to the internet wirelessly. I am hoping to get a new laptop tomorrow and the one that I have picked out says that it does not have wireless connection but it does have wifi.

I am not entirely sure what wifi is and also if it doesnt have wireless connection how do I connect my new laptop to the internet?

I am sure that to most people this is a very basic question that a ten year old probably could tell me the answer to but like I said I am not very technical so please dont be too harsh on me.

WiFi is just a fancy term for wireless Internet. They are the same thing. So your new laptop will still be able to connect to the Internet just like your old one.

BTW any new laptop you buy nowadays MUST be equipped with a wireless card. You won't find one that isn't.

Quite easy my good man. All laptops now come with builtin wifi. Just simply go to your nearest hotspot like your wireless router at home or the nearest hotspot like a pub. I hear that in the UK more and more pubs are going wifi something we've been doing here this side of the pond for years. Jolly good. Then power on your PC. It should discover the wireless that it's in. If it's unsecure you're home free. If it's WEP protected then just ask the pub owner for the key. It's that simple. Good luck. Cheerio & good luck!

Wifi is a a wireless connection to the internet. If your current laptop connection is wirelessly connected someone has set it up - you should note down the same details in the wireless connection and enter the same details in your new laptop and it should work, or get the same person who set up your first laptop to set up your new one.
