How do I connect my old CD ROM to my car stereo?

I had the chance to ride with my brother's friend's car. His car stereo is fitted with a computer CD-ROM for playing music. I already have the power supply needed. But I don't know how to connect my CD-ROM to my car stereo which has an AM/FM radio and auto reverse cassette player. Can anyone help?

I can read schematic diagrams.

  1. That would be a Frankenstein setup.  CD players are really cheap and there's no reason to use a computer CD-ROM.

Just get any PORTABLE CD player (or MP3 player) and use a cassette player adapter.  It would be simpler and less trouble (with wires, etc.).

Or here's a all in one price package from radioshack

    Good Luck...

P.S.  It will also be cheaper than getting power supply for the 12v / 5v for the cd-rom player - which requires the above adapter anyway.

  2. Not meaning to be blunt, but thats kinda dumb.  You can do it, but you gotta get into the circuit board of your unit and make the tape mech spin and cut the audio out of the loop from the tape and feed audio into that stream.  Dont electrocute yourself.
