It's a 5.1 home theater system by Infinity 4 speakers, and channel speaker includedis a 100 watt sub-woofer. The receiver is by JVC 100 watts per channel with an equalizer. My pc is gateway 420gr with Pentium 4 processor 515, 160 gb, 512 mb dor. I don't have a clue how to hook this up and I truly need some detailed help with step by step instructions. Or if anyone knows of any videos on net that will show me?

Your skills are appreciated. Thanks

  1. You do not say what type of sound your computer can output so it is hard for me to tell you what you will need. Most modern computers have 5.1 sound and if you hook it up using the Radio Shack adapter you will only get stereo (2.0) sound.

If your computer is capable of 5.1 sound you will have to find out the exact format of it's output. Sound Blaster uses a tip, ring, ring, sleeve format that requires a special cable made only by them to hook up full 5.1 sound. For other manufacturers I could not even guess. If all you have is the built in sound that came with your computer you will have to talk to Gateway and find out what it can do and what cable you will need to hook it up.

  2. go to radioshack. ask for:

    RCA TO STEREO (headphone) JACK

then get a (red or white) rca wire. plug that into the back of the "AUDIO IN" port on the home theater system, and on the back of the piece from radioshack. then plug the piece from radioshack into the LIGHT GREEN plug on the back of your computer..
