Question:

How do I contact my local Inland Revenue office?

I'm beginning an Open Uni degree soon and going through the process of applying for financial support with them. To do this I need to prove my earnings for last year and one of my jobs didn't give out payslips, so the OU said to do this:

"you could get in touch with your local office of the inland revenue

and ask for a statement of earnings in 2007/8"

My question is - how the heck do I do this?! The contact details page on the hmrc site is a confusing maze and doesn't seem to have anywhere where you can find your local offices contact details, nor anywhere that you can ring about this kind of enquiry! Anyone any ideas?

  1. on HMRC.gov.uk - put 'find a tax office' in the search box.

    then click on 'contact us'

then click on 'find a tax office'

then 'tax office for individual tax enquiries'

then put in your tax ref and you should get a number to call.

I agree it is very confusing!!

Alternatively you can call 0845 366 7856 which is my local office in sussex and ask them for your local one!
