Question:

How do I control my DirecTV receiver with my universal remote?

I have 3 RCA universal remotes (a D700, & 2 RCU310s). I'd love for one or more of them to be able to control my DirecTV receiver (model #D12-300). The D700 has a SAT button that is meant to control DirecTV receivers made prior to 2004, but mine was not. I am hoping for a workaround on this or a way to get one of the other 2 to work. Thanks!

  1. Look up the model number online and there should be a list of codes(depending on the remote) to use for different types of receivers. If nothing will help you there try talking to DirecTV about it.

  2. Directv is the best.  Don't listen to the cable comercials.  They have the most hd channels out there.  100 by the end of the year.

  3. The process goes like this:

hold select and mute till dtv light blinks

enter 00001 (or 000002 but the channels change slower)

hold select and mute till dtv light blinks

enter 961 and hit channel up

enter last 6 digits of rec ID

    press select

    should be good to go.

  4. we just bought a universal remote from wal-mart and it works well with the directv
