How do I control my back-to-school nervousness?

I start school on August 28th and I'm going to be a sophomore. I'm attending the same school I was attending last year. I have a boyfriend who I'm best friends with, and I also have other great friends there, but why am I still so nervous? How do I control this? And why am I even more nervous this year even though I was there just last year when I was a freshman?

I've been anxious for so long and it's been making me feel sick. I don't want it to ruin my last few weeks of summer.

  1. cause its a new grade, possibly talk to ur boyfriend and friends and tell them how you are feeling i am sure that they can help you and they will make this transition easier, aww im so sorry to hear u are this nervous but trust me sophmore year is not a big deal the hardest transition was from 8th grade to freshamn year, GOOD LUCK :)


  2. I'm starting school a day before you and I have the same feeling, but I'm going to be a freshman. I think alot of people get nervous because everyones changed and going from being carefree to having responsibilites can be really nerveracking. I think you should just meet up with your friends and your boyfriend so you'll be less nervous

  4. Try to remember that everyone is anxious and nervous.  Once you get through the first week of school it won't be so new to you and you'll be back to same old grind.  

    Try to relax.  Find a good book to read and go see a movie or 2 with friends.  It's summer,after alll.

  8. You know what, I am the same way. My hands sweat and i feel like throwing up. I chew gum which makes me less nervous and calm. But the best way to get over it ,is do it. Walk into that classroom with people starring you. I hate it but i do it anyways. Just have confidence.

    Always do things your afraid of.

  10. Back to school nervousness is ALWAYS normal. Everyone gets the jitters and truly there isnt any real way to control them. But one way to somewhat calm then down a bit is by just first looking at the situation. Youve been here before and this is even ur second year so there is no reason to be nervous. Next you are in the same school and have all these great buddies who will be there for you and help you through this school year! Next hey im not a freshman anymore so im more comfortable with the school atmosphere. Next just breath when you get there. Others are nervous so its totally fine for you to be. And on that first day go in there with confidence. Wear your favorite new shirt or new shoes and try replacing that nervousness with excitement and itll come a lot easier. i get this way too, and im only going into 8th grade. But remember after the 1st day youll be fine. It might take a while to get into the school groove but shortly it will be a breeze and the nervousness will be all gone!   12. I get nervous all the time and it makes me feel sick too. So before you go back to school enjoy it whilst you aren't there and don't spend time worrying about things when you are. Don't worry yourself when you don't even know what's going to happen yet. Take deep breathes when you are getting nervous. It helps trust me.

  14. that's a bummer. but you just have to know that you have so many people who love and support you, and you're gonna have a totally amazing sophomore year. don't worry about it, and don't let your nervousness control your life. once you get into the swing of things, you'll forget you were ever nervous and everything will be wonderful! just take a breath and know that you are well looked after. :):)

  16. I am in the exact situation. same grade and everything besides boyfriend, but the guy i like is now going to be in my school. I think the reason we are so nervous is because we are just anxious to see all of our old friends and excited to make new ones. I don't know about u but i know i am taking pretty hard classes and i am worried about them. I think that maybe call your friends and hang out with your boyfriend might help take you mind off of the fact that school is soon.

  17. Talk to your boyfriend about it he would probably comfort you.  Also just think how much more fun you'll have getting to see all of your friends that you don't see over the summer again.  Don't worry you will have fun!

  19. last few weeks of summer holidays, a bf & others at same school, yoo hoo? would you like to swap with me and go to work 6 days a week lol i'll swap. Seriously, this is the best time of your life, enjoy every day, and i agree with some others, it may be nervous excitement building up just relax and enjoy the next few weeks of freedom.

    anyways, just pretend its like any other year, or any other day. you have your friends, and your in a perfectly safe place. tell your BF how you feel, and he will help you out. everythings going to be great with you (:

  23. You're more nervous because you're growing up and entering your second year of high school, when you have to make more decisions and keep your grades up for the constant pressure of college. I know exactly how you feel. It's totally normal. Just enjoy what summer vacation you have left and remember: you'll get through this year and have fun too.

I'm sorry you're nervous, but I promise it's okay.  Sophomore year can be nerve-wrecking.  Try talking to some people you haven't seen since school ended over Facebook and Myspace, that'll make it easier to start conversations when you actually have to see them in class.  Also, try getting some new clothes or a new haircut to increase your confidence.  But other than that, you're kind of on your own.  Just remember that a lot of people get nervous and there's really nothing to be scared about.  Good luck!

  26. don't be nervous. you have a boyfriend and great friends those are the #1 things you need to survive highschool. Keep your mind off school and on summer you don't want to ruin your last weeks

  27. I used to get nervous all the time in school. In fact, senior year which i only had one class, the week before i couldn't sleep. Everyone sounds like things are going good for you. Talk to others, I'm sure they are nervous too. Just don't think so much. Let things happen. Summer is still here..and yea talking to your boyfriend will probably help.

    if this is a problem for you often, you might want to talk to your doctor about stress/anxiety relief...

    he/she could give you good tips on how to relax, and at worse, give you a medication
